How to use it

  1. Choose what to generate: password, passphrase, PIN, key pair, salt/IV, SHA hash or API secret.
  2. Set the length, character sets, encoding or algorithm — values regenerate as you change options.
  3. Press Generate (⌘↵) for a fresh value, then copy or download it.

What is a Secure Password Generator?

A password generator creates cryptographically random passwords, API keys, and encryption keys using the Web Crypto API. Strong passwords use a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols with sufficient length. This tool also generates RSA, ECDSA, and Ed25519 key pairs, cryptographic salts, and API secrets with custom prefixes.

Common use cases

  • Creating strong passwords for online accounts
  • Generating API keys and secret tokens for applications
  • Creating RSA/ECDSA/Ed25519 key pairs for SSH and TLS
  • Generating cryptographic salts for password hashing
  • Building secrets with custom prefixes (e.g., sk_live_)

Frequently asked questions

How long should a password be?

NIST recommends at least 8 characters, but 16+ characters is significantly more secure. A 20-character password with mixed characters has over 130 bits of entropy, making brute-force attacks practically impossible.

Is it safe to generate passwords in the browser?

Yes. This tool uses the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues) which provides cryptographically secure random numbers. No passwords are sent to any server — everything runs locally in your browser.
